Ready to wear or otherwise known as ‘off the peg’ simply means it’s ready to go where made to measure is a process that takes a little more time…
You can try on a suit and take it away with you that same day. With made to measure, the suit is created especially for you and it will take 6-8 weeks before it is complete
We wanted to discuss the differences between the two and why you may choose to opt for one over the other. So, what are the differences?
READY TO WEAR/OFF THE PEG
One of the obvious reasons people may go for ready to wear is that it can be instant. As suits are ready-made with generic block measurements, they generally fit an average-sized and height to taller person. They can be quick and easy if you require a new suit for an upcoming interview or occasion.
One of the great things about ready to wear is that alterations can be made to make the suit fit you better. For example, it may fit almost perfectly but you’d like it to be a little more fitted around the waist where you may naturally go in slightly. We can do this to give it that more personal finish, however, this will then add a week or two until you can wear it. The fit tends to be more structured overall than a made to measure suit and our ready to wear suits are made with a half-canvas and fused lapel.
