Most people know what a tailor does. You choose a fabric, have a few fittings and leave with a suit that fits.
But what if the conversation started somewhere else? With your life, your personality and how you’d actually like to feel when you get dressed?
That was the idea behind the private client lunch we hosted with Ten Lifestyle Group at our Savile Row design home last week. Ten love creating experiences for their clients that go beyond the usual, and we wanted to invite them into the world of tailoring from a different angle.
For us, design, tailoring and style all belong in the same conversation. We want to know where someone’s clothes need to take them, what they enjoy wearing and what they wish felt easier. Then we can create pieces that feel personal and work together, whether they’re heading into a meeting, away for the weekend or out for dinner.
Of course, talking about all that is even better over lunch.

Ingenio Consulting brought the afternoon together, with private chef Tony Alberto creating a three course meal. There was champagne, wine and a table full of people who were soon chatting and laughing as though they’d known each other much longer.
The style masterclass ran through the lunch as a relaxed conversation. I shared how we work with our clients and invited everyone to look at their own style with fresh eyes. Why do some clothes make you feel instantly more like yourself? Why do others hang in the wardrobe, tags still on, despite seeming like such a good idea in the shop?
There were questions, laughter and a few “ah, that’s why” moments. One guest even wondered whether his personalised advice would require him to tuck in his shirts and embrace high waisted joggers. I won’t spoil his style report, but I enjoyed the question.

Each attendee was offered their own personalised style report to use however they wish. That felt important to me. The afternoon was a chance to discover something useful and have a good time doing it, with ideas they could take away and make their own.
We had some wonderful messages afterwards. One guest described the event as “fun” and “personal”; another called it an “enlightening and enjoyable lunch.” Someone also said our explanation made it clear not only what we do, but how we do it. That meant a lot, because the way we get to know our clients is such a big part of the experience. Ten were delighted by how much their clients enjoyed the afternoon, too.
I’d hoped our design home could be a place for moments like this: a room full of interesting people, good food, honest questions and plenty of laughter. Last week felt exactly like that.
Thank you to Ten Lifestyle Group for bringing their clients into our world, and to Ingenio Consulting and Tony Alberto for making the lunch such a pleasure. We’re already looking forward to the next one.
